We have participated in many finals during this period, including winning the World Championships title, but we were still pursuing a World Tour championship. Now we have finally achieved it, and we believe there will be more in the future.
Malaysian men’s doubles pair Xie Dingfeng and Su Weiyi have finally realized their dream of winning a BWF World Tour title, breathing a sigh of relief. In a post-match interview with the Badminton World Federation, Xie expressed relief at no longer needing to answer questions about when their first World Tour victory would come. However, he acknowledged that a new question arises: when will their second title come? He stated that this serves as motivation for the future, driving them to actively pursue the next championship. Since partnering in 2017, the Xie-Su pair had reached six World Tour finals but finished as runners-up each time, including narrow misses at this year’s Indian, Indonesian, and China Opens. Xie emphasized that they never lost trust in each other and persisted despite waiting five to six years for this breakthrough. The world No. 4 Malaysian duo needed only 33 minutes to defeat Indonesian pair Fikri and Bagas 21-13, 21-17 in the final. This victory also ended a seven-year title drought for Malaysian men’s doubles at the Denmark Open, with the last win achieved by Goh V Shem and Tan Wee Kiong in 2016.
