Li Shifeng Stages Comeback Victory Over Lee Zii Jia at French Open

In the men’s singles round of 16 at the BWF Super 750 French Open, Li Shifeng and Lee Zii Jia clashed for the fifth time in their careers. After a hard-fought battle, Li Shifeng mounted a comeback to defeat Lee Zii Jia with scores of 17-21, 21-11, 21-12, securing his spot in the quarterfinals.


The first game saw Lee Zii Jia take control after leading 8-7, rallying six consecutive points to build a substantial advantage. Although Li Shifeng narrowed the gap to 16-17 with a determined effort, Lee’s aggressive play sealed the opener 21-17.



In the second game, Li Shifeng regained his form and adopted a more proactive approach. From a narrow 10-9 lead, he surged ahead with six straight points, extending the margin to 16-9 before closing out the game 21-11.



The decisive third game began with Li Shifeng trailing 3-9, but he demonstrated remarkable resilience. By intensifying net play and sharp attacks, he strung together seven consecutive points to overturn the deficit. As Lee Zii Jia’s composure wavered, Li Shifeng maintained momentum to clinch the match 21-12, avenging his loss to Lee in this year’s Swiss Open.
